Vietnamese boy shares his learning journey in the Philippines
Loki Tran said that choosing to study in the Philippines has many advantages such as low tuition fees and the opportunity to develop foreign languages.
Tran Viet Hung, 26 years old, Thai Nguyen (nickname Loki Tran) founded and developed 2 companies in studying abroad, e-commerce (providing logistics and operation services in the Philippines). The young man owns 2 English centers in Manila (Philippines) and Thai Nguyen (Vietnam).
With the desire to improve foreign languages, become an intern in the US, after graduating from university, Loki won a scholarship to study English and decided to go to the Philippines to focus on improving his English level. This is considered a necessary first step for the journey of becoming an intern in the US that he planned.
With his own efforts, at the end of 2017, Loki passed the internship program in the US. However, it was the time of living and studying in the Philippines that helped him realize that he could find many career development opportunities that suit him right here in this beautiful Southeast Asian country. He said, deciding to stick with the Philippines until today is always the right choice because the young man knows he is on the right journey.

- Why did Loki choose the Philippines as a place to study and develop English?
- I chose to study in the Philippines based on 2 factors. Firstly, the Philippines is one of the leading countries in Asia using English as a common language in administration and daily life. I was surprised because Filipinos have a very good, standard voice. I am impressed with the learning environment here.
The second reason is cost. Studying English in the Philippines is considered a stepping stone for students to improve their foreign languages, making it easier to apply for study abroad in other countries. At that time, I wanted to choose a program with a reasonable tuition fee, balance the cost for the next study abroad journey. After comparing between neighboring countries like Singapore, the Philippines has a relatively low cost, studying abroad here will save a lot.
- Do you share your experience to choose the right Academy in the Philippines?
- Based on 4 years of experience working in this field, I find that most of the Academy in the Philippines are of very good quality. I am impressed with the quality of teachers, the variety of curriculum. However, each school still has differences in facilities, leading to different prices. In general, I feel that the boarding school model at academies in the Philippines is very suitable for Vietnamese students.
- After finishing the course in the Philippines, what is Loki's plan?
- According to the plan, at the end of 2017 I will continue to apply for an internship program in the US. But maybe the Philippines gave me great experiences and opportunities to develop my career here, so I started looking for a job that was right for me.
Right at the end of the course, I was fortunate to work as a manager for an e-commerce company in Manila. At the beginning of 2018, along with management work, I opened the first English center in Manila.
In 2019, I decided to return to Vietnam to open a GIP company and an English center in Thai Nguyen. Currently, GIP company is operating 7 e-commerce companies, it is expected that by the end of this year this number will increase to 10.
