More than 6,000 international students are allowed to stay in the dormitory
SINGAPORE After Nanyang Technological University reversed the policy, more than 6,000 international students studying here continued to stay in the dormitory.
On the evening of July 2, Le Ha Phuong, 20 years old, Vietnamese nationality, breathed a sigh of relief after the new decision of Nanyang Technological University. Just a day ago, she couldn't sleep all night because she didn't know where she would be in two weeks. She did not want to move out because of the interruption of her studies. "I'm glad I got to stay," she said.
Of the 25,000 students at Nanyang Technological University, about 6,000 are international students. Thousands of people shared their joy across the forum.

Students' relief comes from Nanyang Technological University withdrawing its decision to require international students to pack up and leave campus before July 15. In addition to reversing the policy, the school is also preparing accommodation for freshmen and sophomores next term.
A school spokesman said the school's leadership had carefully considered the capacity of the dormitory and the vaccination situation of Singapore. "Things are going very well, we will put in place new safety measures, so we have opened an additional block for new registrants and also allowed international students to stay in the dormitory. " said this person.
This view is somewhat contradictory to the reason the university gives when asking international students to move out. Just a day ago, Nanyang Technological University said that because the number of 14,000 people in the dormitory was too large, it was difficult to ensure epidemic prevention. This made international students disgruntled, signed together to protest, and brought the matter up for debate in domestic and foreign forums.
